the Ottawa Family Support Network (OFSN)  is here to help.

OFSN was created to bring families together, share knowledge, and strengthen support for caregivers and loved ones of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Ottawa.   We are a family-led support network dedicated to empowering parents, caregivers, and loved ones of adults with intellectual disabilities. Whether you’re navigating a new diagnosis, advocating for services, or looking for community, you are not alone — and you are welcome here.  

How we can help:

• Peer Support & Community
  Connect with other families and caregivers who understand the challenges and experiences of supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Join one of our support groups or attend a virtual coffee chat.

• Navigation & Guidance
  Access information and guidance related to services, supports, funding programs, housing options, and future planning.  Need support navigating systems like ODSP, DSO, or housing? Book a free consultation with one of our peer helpers.  

• Workshops & Events
  Participate in community events, educational workshops, and conversations designed to support families and caregivers. We host regular learning sessions on topics like transition planning, housing, funding options, mental health, and legal rights.

• Advocacy & Awareness
  We amplify the voices of families and adults with intellectual disabilities, working toward more inclusive policies and services. We work to strengthen understanding, and support for individuals and the families who care for them.
